Brigitte Calls Me Baby (W2)
If you haven't heard of Brigitte Calls Me Baby yet, ACL Festival might be the perfect introduction. The Chicago quartet features Wes Leavins (vocals), Jack Fluegel (guitar), Devin Wessels (bass), and Jeremy Benshish (drums). Since the release of The Future Is Our Way Out, the band has steadily built momentum with major festival appearances, including Lollapalooza, extensive touring across the U.S. and Europe, and this year's sophomore album, Irreversible. Now they add ACL Festival to an already impressive list, and I have a feeling they'll leave Austin with plenty of new fans.

The first time I heard "Slumber Party," I didn’t even make it through the song before I wanted to hit replay. Some songs gradually win you over. This wasn’t one of them.

If someone had asked me where Brigitte Calls Me Baby was from after my first listen, I would've guessed the UK without hesitation. Their sound has that unmistakable British indie feel, but they're carving out an identity all their own. Wes Leavins' vocals may grab your attention first, but it's the unforgettable hooks, thoughtful songwriting, and effortless balance of nostalgia and modern indie rock that keep you coming back.
