ACL 2014 - KONGOS (Q&A)

I recently discovered KONGOS back in February. "Come With Me Now" was shared on a great music group on Facebook I am a member of, New Music Alternative . It turns out they were also on the SXSW list to begin with but ultimately did not end up coming through Austin in March because they already started catching on and getting radio play - and they have pretty much been on tour since. I was bummed I couldn't make it when they opened up for Alice In Chains in April, and I won't be able to make the KOL show in September - so I'm super excited to finally see them at ACL this year. If you are not familiar with KONGOS - you need to be! This band is one of the top bands on my list to see live at ACL this year. Not only are they talented but umm, very easy on the eyes as well :) They are unique, different, fresh and well - EPIC! They cannot be categorized and that is what makes them brilliant. OUGHT (Q&A)

I can totally go into a play on words with the title of a song from an artist with Canadian roots that came out in the 90's, but I won't. Let's just say that if you are not familiar with Ought - here is your chance to become a fan just like me. I gravitate toward different, unique, fresh and music that doesn't sound like everything else that is out there right now. My tastes are all over the place but if it connects with me, I am sold. Ought is one of those bands where you know you need or want to hear something different, but you aren't quite sure what it is. After listening to More Than Any Other Day in its entirety, I realized this release was exactly what I needed to hear and I know for a fact I am not the only one that feels this way. OUGHT - Live Concert Review - 7.2.14 (Three Links Dallas)

I recently found out about the band Ought and had to do a post pretty quick and share this band as soon as I could. More Than Any Other Day is at the top of my 2014 album release list so far. The one dilemma I had for their live show was that I would be out of town for the Austin date and the closest show I could make it to would be in Dallas. I actually drove over an hour to make it to the show but it was totally worth it. I haven't been to Three Links before as I have been away from Dallas and particularly haven't been to Deep Ellum in years even though it used to be a favorite spot of mine back in the day. Three Links is a bar with a nice stage and it was a good spot to check out Ought for the first time. Before the show started I got to talk to Tim Beeler for a bit and he is SOOOOOOO nice.
